The Cygnus Wall in the North American Nebula is a dense star forming region. This image processing, called the Hubble Palette after the famed images NASA began to release in the 1990s, assigns the three primary interstellar gases each their own color channel: hydrogen-alpha is red, doubly ionized oxygen is blue, and ionized sulfur is green. This processing creates rich images that utilize the entire color spectrum.
